After a month of being here in DC, I took a step back and looked at the life that we are living here. We both are working out of the home. Nights are generally eat supper, watch some TV, head to bed. Weekends are full of shopping for the next week and trying to catch up on sleep. Some might ask "Where is the passion? Where is the Fun?" I would answer they are not looking close enough.
This place requires a busy life. We no longer have the 10 min commute to give us 6-8 hours of evening time together. The day starts at 5:30 not 7:30 here. It is crazy for a non morning person to adjust to it. The biggest hit is me not working from home. The fact that I am not at home with the doggies most of the day is a big stress on all of our lives. but these are the negatives. If you look close we can see the positives.
First because we both work out we need a better motivator and organizer. No more getting up making the wife's Lunch, seeing her off and then getting ready for work. Now we need plans for lunches, we both have to get ready in the morning and take care of each other. My wife has really stepped up here and I am very thankful. We try to get lunches and crockpot meals ready the night before. She from time to time irons me an outfit as well. This saves me a ton of time in the morning so we can be out the door asap.
The cost of living here is also crazy. We don't get to go out as much but that just leads to more movie rentals. The other night we had a triple feature. I enjoyed every minute of it even though not all the movies. She is my best friend and though our tastes are a bit different I enjoy watching new movies or shows with her. the other day we went to see Whiplash in the theaters. The movie was great but being out with my wife was better. Just shopping with her and exploring the area is an adventure.
This weekend is Valentines day. We just made plans to head to an restaurant that she has been gushing about since we met. I am so excited to go there. Then we are headed to the movies. It is a Big Day and I am all excited. This might be the second best Valentines day in my life. The first being the day I proposed. I think this day will always be special. It tried to make this week a good one for her. Getting her little presents here and there. A foot rub and back rub this week (maybe more this weekend) I just hope she can feel the love I have for her.
While I can't focus on her as much as I could in the past I hope she knows that during the times I have available I still focus on her.
I love you dear. You are my very special Valentine.
